    Here's Our Team

Just like you, our therapists are real humans first.

We lead with authenticity and vulnerability and aren’t afraid to show our own imperfections! We believe that truly getting to know your therapist helps to build safer relationships, cultivates hope, and supports meaningful, lasting change.

    Our Approach to Therapy

We are a team of compassionate clinicians offering virtual therapy for individuals, couples, and families. We specialize in Trauma, Addiction, Depression, Anxiety, Life Transitions, Sex Therapy and Couple’s Therapy. Get in touch to find out how we can help.

We support you in examining your deeper connections with yourself so that you can heal more fully. We help you get the most out of therapy by viewing mind, body, and spirit as parts of a greater whole through Somatic Psychotherapy, Tantra and Play.

If you are located in Ontario and are interested in holistic therapy virtually, contact us for a free consultation.

    Somatic psychotherapy

Somatic psychotherapy is about accessing and using information from your body and your nervous system to increase your self-awareness. It is a “bottom-up” approach used to reprogram long-held beliefs and stories that no longer serve you as well as for proper trauma resolution.

Traumatic events and emotions leave an “imprint” in our sensory and hormonal systems. Therefore, long after the event has occurred there still may be bodily sensations, reactions and feelings that continue to occur and cause anything from worry, anxiety, fear, and panic attacks, to states of depression.

Take a second right now and ask yourself, “Do I feel comfortable in my own skin? Do I know what it’s like to feel like I am in my body instead of in my head?”

The process of connecting to your body is one of the most amazing experiences. You won’t believe how good it feels to be fully present inside of your own skin.

Sexuality lives at the intersection of multiple disciplines in our lives and when combined with movement & psychotherapy it  encourages You to Express what’s been suppressed , heal from trauma and bring your body back to its true nature of existence such as love, connection, joy, confidence, pleasure, creativity and freedom.

Finally, not all therapy sessions must be intense and serious! We prioritize holding space for celebrating your joys, highlighting and appreciating your progress and accomplishments.

We firmly believe that humor and play are at the heart of resilience, and we need resilience to survive the twists and turns of being human. Life is not all challenge and suffering, so your therapy shouldn’t be either!

Playfulness is a joyous expression of a state of wellbeing. Together we will help you  enrich your wellbeing.

    Extended Health Benefits

Counselling with a Registered Psychotherapist is usually covered by a majority of insurance plans. We work with clients who are covered by Manulife, Sun Life, Great-West life, Green Shield, Blue Cross and other insurance companies. Students at the University of Guelph, University of Waterloo, and Wilfrid Laurier University, University of Toronto can also take advantage of our counseling services as they are covered by their student benefits.

Each insurance company has different policies and so it’s hard to determine which plans cover what. To find out if your insurance plan covers therapy services, you can:

    • Contact your insurance company to confirm if you are covered for counseling/therapy with a Registered Psychotherapist
    • Look on your insurance company’s benefits online to find out if there is coverage on counseling with a Registered Psychotherapist
    • Email your HR representative to find out if your benefits include counseling/therapy with a Registered Psychotherapist

Payment for counselling services is due before every session begins. A receipt will be given when payment is received. Please retain this receipt for your insurance or income tax claims.

Reasons for teletherapy online Video counseling sessions

We know that there are times when virtual sessions are the best option for our clients. If you’re interested in counseling via video chat, we can accommodate you. We also offer phone sessions for our established clients, but we prefer to use video chat whenever possible because this option most closely resembles a regular office visit. Some of the reasons individuals choose teletherapy include:

    • Safety – during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are offering telehealth and phone sessions exclusively in an attempt to protect the health of our clients, clinicians, families, and the greater community.
    • Convenient Scheduling – we know how busy our clients are, and the commute to our office location, in addition to time spent in our office, may not be feasible every week. Inability to find the time shouldn’t to be the only reason you’re not able to engage in thoughtful, supportive therapy sessions on a regular basis, and telehealth visits can make it easier for you to fit therapy into your day.
    • Welcome Us into Your Space – we have worked hard to create an office that feels welcoming, comfortable, bright, and peaceful, and we love inviting our clients to see us here. However, we never really get to see you in your element on your home turf, and telehealth gives us that ability. We can see you in your home, meet your pets and plants, and give you the opportunity to show us even more of what makes you – you.
    • Privacy – many individuals tell us that they don’t feel like they can tell their boss about leaving the office for a therapy session or they don’t want to explain the visits to other people. We fully encourage our clients to feel confident and comfortable caring for their needs, but we also respect your need for privacy. Teletherapy sessions may be a good option to avoid these awkward chats with your boss and others you don’t want to know your business.
    • Greater Reach –We know there are many individuals who don’t necessarily live right up the street who could benefit from our services and approach. We are passionate about access to care and offering online sessions allows us to get more people connected to our services.

Private, Safe & Secure – our pledge to every client

We’ve all seen the horror stories about online information being accessed through a security breach, and we understand this is a very real fear for many of our clients when it comes to engaging in online counseling sessions. We want to reassure you that our team uses a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform that has been rigorously tested for network security strength in order to ensure your private information is safe and secure. You can further minimize risk for data security breaches by taking the following steps when accessing our telehealth platform:

    • Use a password protected device
    • Create a strong password with a combination of upper- and lower-case text, numbers, and special characters
    • Change your passwords regularly
    • Avoid reusing passwords or using passwords that can easily be connected to you (pet names, addresses, birthdays, etc.)
    • Don’t share your password with others
    • Log out of all applications at the end of each session
    • Do not use public Wi-Fi during teletherapy sessions unless this is your only option
    • Clear your browser history, cache, and cookies immediately after each session
